Commissioned in May 2017, the Champ Grand’mère wind farm deploys 12.3 MW of Senvion turbine technology near Canteleux, capitalizing on the region’s renowned wind potential. The site’s elevated position provides exceptional wind exposure, while the Senvion turbines were specifically engineered to perform optimally in variable wind conditions typical of inland France. Virya Energy’s (ex-Eurowatt) development approach emphasized transparent communication with local residents, resulting in strong community support and efficient project execution. The installation contributes significantly to regional renewable energy targets while providing sustainable revenue streams for participating landowners and municipalities.
